Skills formation strategies provide a process whereby industry and government stakeholders collaborate to analyse the reasons for skills shortages, then develop strategies to address identified issues.
Tourism Skills Shortage
In spite of the growing level of expenditure on education and training by all levels of industry, community and government, severe skills shortages remain an issue in many industries, or are predicted to emerge/worsen based on known future industry developments or change. The tourism industry has been recognised as one of those which will face severe skills shortages.
In an environment where the unemployment rate is around 5%, and where the ageing of the workforce will be increasingly important in coming years, addressing skills shortages is likely to be an ongoing challenge.
